Abstract

Superior Court justice Donald G. Alexander last week ruled that workers' compensation insurers are responsible for paying at least half of the debt accrued by an insurance pool in 1989 and 1990. The debt developed when the pool that provided most of the workers' compensation coverage in the state spent more on benefits and expenses than it collected in premiums. It is estimated the debt will likely hit at least $169 million when all the pool's bills are paid. Details.
