Abstract

The Legislature's Housing and Economic Development Committee has targeted the busy Yarmouth Information Center and two smaller visitor centers in Hampden for budget cuts, a move which tourism officials say will only hurt visitors and the state treasury. The three centers served 400,000 visitors and distributed 1.3 million brochures last year, and Yarmouth is the state's busiest center after the one in Kittery.
