Abstract

Gov. McKernan said Friday he would be willing to see the 6 percent sales tax-rate retained to close most of the state's budget gap. The rate is scheduled to revert back to 5 percent on July 1, but maintaining the 6 percent rate would generate an estimated $165 million over the next two years.
