Abstract

Maine averted a federal takeover of enforcing the state's clean drinking water laws by appropriating $500,000 to hire 10 additional employees at the Department of Human Services' Drinking Water Program. The federal Environmental Protection Agency in February started legal action to take over enforcement because staffing at the program was indadequate. Details.
