Abstract

The Maine warden service is continuing its policy of performing random safety checks on boaters without formal guidelines in place despite a recommendation from the Maine Attorney General's Office that they adopt such guidelines. Southern Kennebec District Court Judge Kirk Studstrup last year ruled that a random check of a Winthrop boater by wardens violated the boater's constitutional rights.
