Abstract

Eldon MacLeod, owner of Freeport's Main Street Restaurant, is still feuding with the town of Freeport over a short section of sidewalk he built without a permit five years ago. The town modified the sidewalk to meet specifications and sent MacLeod the bill for $768, but he refused to pay. So far, the dispute has cost more than $75,000, almost all of which involves legal fees.
