Abstract

Portland Police Dept. officials have acknowledged that fixing traffic tickets as a professional courtesy to people who have the connections to warrant such favors is widespread, prompting a written policy that eliminates such courtesies beginning today. It was recently disclosed that South Portland city managerJerre Bryant had a number of traffic tickets fixed because South Portland police intervened with their colleagues in Portland.
