Abstract

A 24-unit, low-income housing project proposed by Gleichman & Company Inc. of Portland in 1991 for the town of Cornish was reluctantly approved by the Cornish Planning Board on September 20. The approval came only after an official with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development met with the board in August 1993 and said the town faced a possible lawsuit charging discrimination against low-income families.
