Abstract

The Maine Human Rights Commission issued its annual report to the governor and legislative, which included a plea for either more staff or fewer responsibilities, due to a backlog of around 1,000 cases. The commission's staff has been cut from 15 in 1991 to 10.5 in the fiscal year which ended in June; cases during that period increased from 595 to 841. Details.
