Abstract

Scientists believe the shrimp population is approaching the bottom of a cycle, and will recommend at a regulatory meeting in two weeks that the shrimp season be shortened to protect stocks. Landings from 1984 through 1991 were between 5 million and 8 million pounds, while last season they dropped to around 3.2 million pounds. Details.
