Abstract

The Maine Public Utilities Commission recently approved a 13 percent rate hike for Northern Utilities Inc., the state's natural gas supplier. A spokesperson for the utility said the increase reflects the cost of gas purchased at the well head. Northern Utilities, a subsidiary of Bay State Gas Co. of Westborough, Mass., has about 19,000 customers in southern and central Maine. Details.
