Abstract

The state Board of Arbitration and Conciliation this week ordered that former York County Jail administrator Raymond Moreau be reinstated in his job at the sheriff's department. The board ruled that Moreau had been denied due process when Sheriff Bemis, without consulting with the county commissioners, fired Moreau on the same day he was indicted for allegedly having sexually molested two prisoners. Moreau was tried and acquitted on charges relating to one of the molestations. No decision has yet been made to try the second case.
