Abstract

U.S. represenative Thomas H. Andrews last week came out in opposition to an export loan program which would allow the country of Turkey to borrow up to $1 billion from American banks to buy American-made ships. The move pits Andrews against Bath Iron Works, which has been negotiating with Turkey to provide that country with warships for its navy. Andrews argues that Congress should be decreasing the sale of weapons to foreign countries. Details.
