Abstract

National Semiconductor plans a multimillion-dollar expansion at its South Portland manufacturing plant to help meet increased demand for commercial computer chips and further consolidate its worldwide operations. The 12,000-square-foot addition, expected to cost $70 million, will be built at the Western Avenue site over the next two years.
