Abstract

Regional Waste Systems may eventually dig up and burn all the trash now buried in its Scarborough landfill. The $65 million waste-to-energy incinerator cannot handle the volume of summer trash which must be buried, and not enough trash is generated in the winter to operate the incinerator at full capacity. Last week 1,000 tons were taken from the landfill and burned. Details.
