Abstract

Urchin dealers and divers have reached a consensus that rules, including a season and minimum size, are needed to manage the booming sea urchin industry in Maine. The state now has 806 divers and 232 draggers licensed to harvest urchins, and the 1992 harvest of 26.4 million pounds was worth $15.1 million.
