Abstract

Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, D-Maine, met with Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy to press for immediate assistance for Maine's troubled potato farmers, who are facing losses of $75 million this year. Poor weather and market conditions could drive 15 percent of the state's potato growers out of business.
