Abstract

The Legislature's Human Resources Committee was asked by the Maine Medical Association to relax restrictions on testing for the virus that causes AIDS, but others in the medical community siad the present regulations strike a balance between the rights of patients and doctors. The present regulations were drafted in 1987, and the bill's sponsor thinks a change in policy is necessitated by changes in the treatment of the disease.
