Abstract

Steve Curren started A-Maize-Ing Energy Inc. of Raymond six years ago, and sells 400-500 corn-burning stoves annually across New England. The average home burns three or four tons of died corn a year, and at $8.66 per 1 million Btu of heat corn is comparable to the $7.28 it costs for the same amount of energy from wood. Curren has 15 farmers in the state that supply him and his customers with corn.
