Abstract

Health Care issue "Cover Story" piece on Maine's teen-agers and tobacco. Dr. Dora Ann Mills, director of the state's Bureau of Health, calls youth smoking a "chronic disease epidemic." Maine has the highest rate of smokers aged 18-30 in the nation, and one of the highest rates among high school students. With facts and figures, as well as observations and comments by individuals and groups such as the American Lung Assocation of Maine and the Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Maine.
