Abstract
Mercury has been found in fish at levels exceeding the maximums set by the federal Food and Drug Administration, and predatory fish like pickerel, bass and trout seem to have higher levels than smaller fish. The large, predatory fish that eat other fish are exactly the kind of fish that ice fishermen are likely to catch, yet few if any ice fishermen have changed the way they fish in reponse to mercury warnings. State officials have no plans to issue further warnings about consuming fish caught in Maine's lakes and ponds. Details.
