Description
Full exterior views of Hotel Everett building, 51 Oak Street, between Congress Street and Free Street. Central Yarn Shop (53 Oak Street) at center. Grippo Shoe Repair (51 Oak Street), Vincent the Tailor (49 Oak Street), and Michael's Breakfast and Lunch (47 Oak Street), at right.
The Everett was designed by Portland architect Frederick Augustus Tompson in 1902, a year after the Walker Manual Training School (45 Casco Street) was built. Another of Tompson's many designs in Portland, the Portland Exposition Building, was built in 1914.
