Greater Portland-area restaurant menus from a 67 diners, restaurants, and cafés- most of which were collected between 1982 and 1989 by student workers at Portland Public Library. The digital scans were made by the Library from the vintage/original printed menus.

Portland House of Pizza
1982 Menu from the Portland House of Pizza, 544 Forest Avenue (near Ashmont Street). The pizzeria later relocated to 1359 Washington Avenue.
Portland Wine and Cheese Company
1982 Menu from Portland Wine and Cheese Company, 8 Forest Avenue (ground floor of the Congress Square Plaza apartment building). The business was also a gourmet food shop.
Puritan Tea Room
1951 menu (20 July 1951) from the Puritan Tea Room, 566 Congress Street, Portland Maine. The restaurant and confectioner was in business from 1922-1974.

1987 Menu from Raphael's Restaurant, 36 Market Street. The restaurant was opened in 1986 by Eric Cianchette, and named after his grandfather Raphael.

Circa1960, and 1982 Menus from the Roma Café, 769 Congress Street. the Roma opened in 1936 (following a year at another location on Congress Street). The restaurant was owned and operated by Dominic Marino who immigrated to Portland from Peschici, Italy. The Roma was opera legend Mario Lanza's favorite place to dine in Portland.

1989 Menu from Ruby's Choice restaurant, 116 Free Street. The popular lunch spot was a perennial winner of newspaper readers' polls for best burger in Portland, and was in business on Free Street from late 1985 through 1997.

1982 Menu from Sam's Harbor Lunch, 109 Commercial Street. In 1984, the restaurant relocated to 210 Commercial Street (Central Wharf).

Seamen's Club Restaurant
1982 Menu from the Seamen's Club Restaurant, 375 Fore Street. The tavern (later known as Bull Feeney's) was located in the Charles Q. Clapp Block, built in 1866.

1982 Menus from Second Ceres restaurant, 21 Pleasant Street. The space had previously been The Hungry Hunza restaurant, Second Ceres was in business from 1981-1983, and by early 1984 the space became home to Alberta's restaurant (where Alberta's was located through 1996).

Sonesta (Eastland) Hotel
December 1983 Menu from the Sonesta (Eastland Hotel) Rib Room, 157 High Street. In 1983, the Eastland Hotel (built in 1927) was owned by Sonesta Hotels. The Menu has the theme, "Dinner With Dickens."

1982 and 1989 Menus from The Sportsman's Grill, 911 Congress Street. Featuring a famous spaghetti sauce, the Sportsman's opened in 1951, owned by Jimmy Vasile. The popular Italian restaurant closed in 1997.
