Abstract

Over the past decade, full-time workers in Maine have increased the number of hours they work an average 11 percent, to 48.6 hours per week, and two-income households are now the norm. The pressures of parenting and the desire for more leisure time have resulted in some workers taking jobs which offer them more free time, even if it means a pay cut. Some employers have instituted policies to help their employees manage the stress of work. Details.
