Abstract

Maine Department of Transportation officials are seeking public comment on proposals to build a new bridge between Bath and Woolwich. The existing Carlton Bridge is 66 years old, carries 25,000 cars a day and 35,000 during the summer and is considered by some to be the worst traffic bottleneck in Maine. Three options have been proposed, with the most popular one involving the construction of a new four-lane bridge with a separate railroad drawbridge under it. Details.
