Abstract

Bangor International Airport has become a prime refueling stop for transatlantic charter flights, bringing an estimated 1,900 international passengers through the airport daily and resulting in an annual economic impact of $40 million to the city. Backers of the airport say the United States embargo on trade with Cuba is forcing foreign charters flying to that country to use Canadian airports instead of Bangor, costing the airport millions of dollars in revenue.
