Abstract

The federal Farmers Home Administration has denied an application from Gleichman & Co. of Portland to finance construction of a 24-unit, low-income housing project in Cornish. Cornish residents who opposed the project expressed concern about Gleichman's financial condition, citing reports last fall about overdue payments on Maine State Housing Authority loans. Gleichman currently has outstanding loans on 29 projects financed through FmHA. Details.
