Abstract

The federal Environmental Protection Agency yesterday said it was serious about assessing fines against Maine if the state suspends the new automobile emissions testing program, saying it has withheld highway funding for eight other states that failed to implement similar testing. Around $70 million in federal highway funds could be withheld, and state Department of Environmental Protection are not taking the matter lightly. Details.
