Abstract

George Adler, a well respected forest industry analyst for the Smith Barney Shearson brokerage firm, says he has credible but unconfirmed information that Scott Paper Co. will sell its S. D. Warren division to International Paper Co. The rumor has some S. D. Warren workers concerned because of International Paper's anti-labor reputation, while other workers feel that any change at S. D. Warren would be better than the present state of uncertainty surrounding the future of the Westbrook mill.
