Abstract

Maine foreign exports increased from $1.026 billion in 1992 to $1.14 billion in 1993, an 11.1 percent increase, attributable primarily to increased trade with Asia. Although Canada is Maine's largest export market, accounting for 34 percent of goods shipped abroad, there was no growth in exports in the 1992-1993 period because of the sluggist Canadian economy.
