Abstract

Christopher Muse, 37, of South Portland, an 18-year officer at the Cumberland County Jail, is challenging his boss, Cumberland County sheriff Wesley Ridlon, in the June 14 primary election. Muse claims that Ridlon, 61, of Portland, has provided inadequate training for corrections officers at the new $27.8 million jail near Portland's Union Plaza. Ridlon served 20 years with the Portland Police Department before retiring in 1977 at the rank of sergeant, and is currently serving his first four-year term as sheriff.
