Abstract

The Portland West Neighborhood Planning Council on Friday fired Sheila Wellehan, director of the agency's Fair Housing Project. Wellehan claims the firing was in retaliation for her having raised concerns that Executive Director James V. Oliver didn't immediately act on a complaint made in April by the Portland chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People about allegations of racism. Oliver said that Wellehan's firing had nothing to do with the allegations of racism, but was due to her having caused problems since she started work last November. Details.
