Abstract

James V. Oliver, the executive director of the Portland West Neighborhood Planning Council, and Moses Sebunya, vice president of the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, met on Thursday at the urging of police chief Michael J. Chitwood, and agreed that the organizations should set aside their difference and work together to fight racism. The organizations have been at odd since April when an employee of the Portland West was accused of having made a racist remark about a tenant. The boards of the two organizations have been tentatively scheduled to meet next Thursday to explore ways of working together. Details.
