Abstract

The Westbrook City Council has ratified a resignation settlement with Peter J. Blanchette, 43, an 18-year veteran of the Police Department who has a history of disciplinary problems dating back to 1978. Under the settlement, Blanchette will receive $17,832 for medical benefits, insurance, back wages and other benefits. Blanchette was forced to resign from the force in 1978, but was allowed to withdraw his resignation after an investigation found he did not intend to commit a crime. He was fired in 1983, reinstated, fired again in 1988, and returned to duty in August 1990. Details.
