Abstract

Clark P. Pond, 49, of Cape Elizabeth, recently was appointed to the newly-created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer of National Semiconductor Corp. of Santa Clara, Calif., the computer chip company that employs 23,000 people worldwide. The company yesterday was scheduled to dedicate its newest facility in South Portland, which will make chips for laptop computers and cellular phones.
