Abstract

Maine State Police Trooper Charles Black, the first state trooper to die by gunfire, will be honored Saturday, the 30th anniversary of his death. Black was 28 on July 9, 1964, when he was killed after a bank robbery in South Berwick. Members of Black's family and some 200 past and present state troopers plan to attend the ceremony.
