Abstract

Maine State Police during the first week of a crackdown on commercial trucking violations inspected more than 5,000 trucks and issued around 500 cititions. The crackdown, announced last week by Gov. McKernan, is in response to four accidents involving tired truckers since last fall. Violations ranged from falsified logbooks to overweight vehicles and drivers driving or being on duty longer than federal law allows. Details.
