Abstract

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency owes local police departments across the state $670,860, just one of the problems inherited last week by the agency's new director, Roger Stricker. Stricker, chief of police in Auburn before succeeding Francis Amoroso as head of MDEA, plans to close MDEA offices in Gardiner, Lyman and Pownal to cut costs, and hopes local departments will offset layoffs at the agency by donating replacement agents. Details, history of the agency.
