Abstract

Persis Strong, vice president of marketing at Binax Inc. of South Portland, in March signed agreements worth $300,000 while on a trade mission in Brazil with Gov. McKernan. The mission cost $25,000 of taxpayer money and one week of the governor's time, but observers say the expense is worthwhile. Maine in 1993 exported $1.14 billion worth of goods and services, a figure that state economic development officials and trade experts say could be increased substantially. Details.
