Abstract

The Maine Bank & Trust yesterday announced plans to establish a holding company to be known as Maine Bank Corp. The holding company will allow the bank to become involved in a number of businesses that are not considered banking in the strict sense of the term. Formed three years ago, Maine Bank & Trust now has five locations in southern Maine and $93 million in assets. For the quarter ended June 30, the bank reported a pre-tax profit of $220,000 compared to a loss of $157,000 last year.
