Abstract

There are at least three books in the works on the bitter 1987-88 paperworkers strike against the International Paper Co. mill in Jay. Jack Getman, a law professor at the University of Texas; August Carbonella, an anthropology professor at City College of New York; and former Maine AFL-CIO worker Peter Kellman are those working on the history of the labor action, which some say was the pivotal strike of the 1980s.
