Abstract

Michael Tuck, 31, an inmate at the Maine Correctional Center in Winhdam, last month filed suit in U.S. District Court against the state of Maine and state Department of Corrections Commissioner Donald Allen, claiming his civil rights were violated when the state denied him dental floss. Commissioner Allen yesterday said his department has resumed issuing dental floss to prisoners after halting it for several months to review its potential misuse as a weapon or an escape tool.
