Abstract

The Portland City Council this week endorsed four of the ten designs for the proposed two new Maine Turnpike interchanges, and the options chosen are the same ones that are emerging as favorites among municipal officials, business people and residents. The chosen designs offer the best access to major streets, shift the most trafic to the turnpike and cut driving times the most, but would also require the filling of more wetlands thean the other options.
