Abstract

The Portland City Council today will consider adopting rules to help them evaluate proposals for establishing Tax Increment Financing districts. Portland during the last seven months has created TIF districts for Unum Corp., Longfellow Inc. and Nichols Portland. Councilors are concerned they have no standards to measure future tax proposals against, prompting the formulation of standards that are stricter than what the state requires. Details.
