Abstract

Portland city manager Robert B. Ganley this week tallied the bills for the renovation of Hadlock Field, and the $2.5 million total is $1 million more than the city pledged in 1992. The cost overruns were attributed to the short construction period with which the city had to work, as well as unanticipated city and state requirements that added around $200,000 to the work. Neither Mayor Richard W. Paulson nor F. Thomas Geiringer Jr., head of the Portland Taxpayers Association, would criticize the cost overruns, citing the popularity of the Sea Dogs. Details, list of contracts and financial costs.
