Abstract

The low bid for renovating Portland's Lincoln Middle School was $2.77 million from Barletta Engineering Corp. of Roslindale, Mass., an amount that is $367,639 below budget. The lower-than-expected bid will provide some flexibility for the $14.8 million project to renovate the city's three middle schools, possibly allowing such amenities as carpeting and desks to make their way back into the project. The Building Committee last night voted unanimously to authorize the city to contract with Barletta for the renovations and alternate bid, subject to a review of the bid by architects. Details.
