Abstract

Mario Francisco Mendez, 18, Cerso Oscar Mendez, 20, and ten others were arrested yesterday in raids on three apartments in Lowell, Mass., and police seized large amounts of heroin, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. Maine drug agents say the arrests will at least temporarily disrupt a major part of the heroin trade in Portland. A Portland man arrested last week on heroin trafficking charges provided information that helped police, and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Portland Police Department and the Maine State Police worked closely with Lowell police during the investigation.
