Abstract

Edward Harding, the acting executive director of the Maine Marine Museum in Bath, has fired Philip Sheldon from his position as director of the museum's acclaimed boatbuilding apprenticeship program, citing "administrative differences" as the reason. Sheldon's dismissal is but part of a larger upheaval at the museum. Jean Weber, resigned as executive director in November, amid a $100,000 budget deficit and declining receipts. Her resignation was followed by those of the directors of development and public affairs. Harding hopes to have a replacement for Sheldon by October 1.
