Abstract

Many lakeside camps in southern Maine that used to be one-room shacks without electricity or water have been converted into fully modern homes with all the amenities. Where a single camp once stood, there are now camp villages so crowded they resemble small cities. What were once idyllic vacation spots have become extensions of suburban life, and some camp owners are selling out for spots further north. Details.
