Abstract

Wilderness Medical Associates, based in Bryant Pond, teaches people of various medical backgrounds how to respond to emergencies in isolated areas. The school has a full-time staff of around a dozen, and draws on a corps of around 70 professionals who teach when their schedules permit. Students in the programs include Outward Bound instructors, National Park Service staff, oil exploration crews, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Agency agents, and others.
